An Expanding Partnership: CBM and KPM Sign MOU

This past weekend marked a historic event for the work of Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) in the Philippines.  Since 2010 CBM has enjoyed working with Kabuganaan Philippines Ministries and, through an annual project agreement, have been working together in four mission communities (Lucero, Aglongon, Hopevale, and Libas) in Capiz province to carry-out various community development activities, particularly […]

Practical Theological Education: Strengthening Pastors for Integral Mission

This week marks the launch of a new 3-year practical theological education program for pastors in Capiz province.  Capiz Continuing Theological Education Program, known as CCTEP, will involve over 30 pastors from all regions of Capiz province.  Over the three years, each participant will complete a total of 18 courses (6 per year), with topics […]

FOOD FOR LIFE: The first year…and the year ahead

Food For Life is a cooperative that began in November 2017 through the partnership of Kabuganaan Philippines Ministries (KPM) and Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM).  Farming is not easy work, and here in the Philippines, it is very difficult to earn a living.  In fact, most small rural farmers are among the poorest members of society […]

HOPEVALE MARTYRS: Remembering the past, inspired for the future

For the past three days we have joined together with representatives from the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches Inc. (CPBC), Japan Baptist Union, and American Baptist Churches USA and members of their International Ministries (formerly American Baptist Foreign Mission) to mark the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Hopevale Martyrs.   Hearing stories, seeing […]

BE SENT: Back to the Philippines

Meet Glen Earle.  Glen has been serving with CBM’s SENT Program, which provides Canadians with hands-on global discipleship experiences, here in Roxas City, Capiz, Philippines for the past number of weeks. Glen was part of a SENT team from Kingston Baptist and Midland Baptist (New Brunswick) last November and decided he wanted to ‘be sent’ […]

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38

About Us

Welcome to Our Familymikemel2

After a trip to Kenya in January 2013, Michael and Melanie Waddell began to sense that God was calling them to serve overseas as Global Field staff with Canadian Baptist Ministries. At that time they had a few barriers that held them back from actively exploring opportunities but a little over a year later, the Lord in His power had dissolved them all.

Michael has his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (Crandall) and a Master of Arts in Theology (Evangelism & Mission) from Acadia Divinity College.  Melanie has her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication Studies (Crandall) and her Masters of Education in Counselling from Acadia University.

After graduating from Crandall University in 2001, Michael felt God was calling him to work in the business world rather than a ministry context. He began to work in sales and management for his in-laws small business. He worked in that business for 8 years before purchasing the business in 2008, and he continued as owner until the fall of 2014. In 2010, the Lord called them to walk out in faith and become the part-time Executive Directors of Camp Tulakadik in Cassidy Lake, New Brunswick. In addition to serving at Camp Tulakadik, in January 2015, Michael began serving as part-time interim pastor at Midland Baptist Church in New Brunswick. Melanie has extensive experience working with at-risk youth in group home settings, the public school system and a local pregnancy care centre. After completing her counselling degree, she worked at a Christian University as a professional counsellor. Michael and Melanie have also been foster parents and adoptive parents within the New Brunswick Department of Social Development.   Michael and Melanie have been married for 19 years and they have 4 children: Kyla (16), Sean (14), Carter (14) and Allie (11).

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” – Mark 16:15

Our Work

Michael and Melanie serve alongside CBM colleagues and partners in the area of Marketplace Ministry. The Waddells are assisting in the formation of Christian discipleship movements within the context of the marketplace throughout Southeast Asia. The Waddells also work along side our Filipino partners who are working with the poor and marginalized in various facets of Integral Mission through capacity building that models humility, love, compassion and integrity.

CBM LogoCBM is a global mission organization committed to sharing God’s love through word and deed. We believe that God brings healing to a broken world through local churches. With over 140 years of experience, we have seen that words and deeds intertwined in Christian community work together to bear witness to God’s transforming grace. Together in partnership, we seek to bring hope, healing and reconciliation to all people.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. – 1 Chronicles 16:24

You Can

Support us!

You can join with us in our work by supporting us through faithful prayer and financial support.  Together we can make a difference in the lives of others.  Your support is so important to us and we thank God for each prayer offered and every financial gift given.

YES! I want to support the Waddells with a financial gift.

As Global Field Staff with CBM we are required to raise 100% of our ministry budget through sustainable monthly gifts from individuals or annual church donations.  We appreciate every monthly gift given as they all adds up to help keep us working in the Philippines.  Monthly gifts can be any amount ($10, $25, $50, $100 or more per month) as God leads you.

If you do not feel you can become a monthly financial supporter at this time, one-time financial gifts are needed as well.  One-time gifts help cover our set-up costs of getting to the Philippines and setting up our home, etc… Any one-time amount is greatly appreciated.

By completing and submitting the form below, you will become a Partner in Mission of Michael & Melanie Waddell through your gifts of prayer and finances. CBM Field Staff rely on their Partners in Mission for encouragement and support as they work to bring hope and healing to a broken world.

If you would like to support us financially you can click on the button below (a new window will open) and follow the online instructions to either make a one time gift or sign up to make monthly contributions.
